Super! Ouais, vraiment, à deux jours du départ, et avec le stress qui monte, c'était vraiment le moment de lire ce genre de nouvelle distrayante. Robert Biggs, il nous fait la totale. Il voulait sans doute me remonter le moral, celui-là. Figurez-vous qu'il randonnait en Californie du nord, et il a été attaqué par un puma et... sauvé par un ours!
Bon, allez, ce soir, je prends une verveine et je regarde Blanche-Neige et les sept nains à la télé. Euh non, y pas une méchante sorcière là-dedans?
Finalement, les Pyrénées, on peut dire ce qu'on veut, mais c'est plutôt apaisant, comme montagne. Les chances d'être confronté à un ours ET un puma en train de s'écharper sur votre dos y sont tout de même assez limitées, il faut bien le reconnaître.
Man claims attack by lion, saved by a bear

A Paradise man says he is lucky to be alive after an attack by a mountain lion Monday morning.
Robert Biggs, 69, often hikes in the Bean Soup Flat area, which is about a mile and a half above Whisky Flats. He came across a mother bear, a yearling and a newborn, which were about 40 feet from where he was standing.
After watching the bear family for a few minutes he decided to leave them be and turned to walk back up the trail. As he turned, a mountain lion pounced on him grabbing hold of his backpack with all four paws.
"They usually grab hold of your head with all four paws, but my backpack was up above my head and (the mountain lion) grabbed it instead," Biggs said. "It must have been stalking the little bear, but it was on me in seconds."
He wrestled with the cat, striking it in the head with a rock pick. The cat screamed when it was hit with the pick, but didn't let go, Biggs said. Before he knew it, the mother bear came from behind and pounced on the cat, tearing its grip from the backpack.
The bear and the cat battled for about 15 seconds, Biggs said, until the cat finally ran away. The bear went on its way as well. Biggs ended up with bite marks, scratches and bruises to his arm, but was otherwise uninjured.

Un homme de Paradise déclare avoir de la chance d'être encore en vie après une attaque de puma lundi matin. Robert Biggs, 69 ans, fait souvent de la randonnée dans le secteur de Bean Soup Flat, environ 3 km au-dessus de Whisky flat. Il est tombé sur une ourse, un petit de un an et un ourson nouveau-né, à une quinzaine de mètres de l'endroit où il se trouvait.
Après avoir observé la famille d'ours pendant quelques minutes, il a décidé de les laisser tranquilles et a fait demi-tour pour rejoindre le sentier. Au moment où il s'est tourné, un puma lui a sauté dessus, en s'agrippant des quatre pattes à son sac à dos. "En général, ils attrapent votre tête avec les quatre pattes, mais mon sac était plus haut que ma tête et (le puma) l'a attrapé à la place", dit Biggs. " Il devait vouloir s'attaquer à l'ourson, mais s'est rabattu sur moi".
Il s'est battu avec le félin, le frappant à la tête avec une pierre tranchante. Le félin a grogné lorsqu'il a été atteint, mais n'a pas lâché prise, explique Biggs. Mais avant de comprendre ce qui se passait, l'ourse est arrivée par derrière et s'est jetée sur le puma, lui faisant lâcher le sac.
L'ourse et le puma se sont battus pendant environ 15 secondes, dit Biggs, puis le félin s'est enfui. L'ourse est aussi partie de son côté. Biggs s'est retrouvé avec des traces de morsures, des griffures et des contusions au bras, mais il est autrement indemne.

A 69-year-old hiker was saved from a vicious mountain lion attack – by a BEAR.
Robert Biggs was walking in the woods of north-central California when he spotted a mother and her young cub.
After watching the animal family for some time, he turned to walk back up the trail when a mountain lion pounced on him from behind.
The big cat grabbed Mr Biggs’ backpack with all four paws, sinking its claws in and wrestling with him.
He told the Paradise Post: “They usually grab hold of your head with all four paws, but my backpack was up above my head and (the mountain lion) grabbed it instead.
“It must have been stalking the little bear, but it was on me in seconds.”
After struggling with the animal, Mr Biggs was able to hit it over the head with a rock pick but the lion clung on.

The hiker’s life was saved when the mother bear came to his rescue, grabbing the mountain lion and pulling it from the backpack.
The big cat fled into the woods leaving Mr Biggs with bite marks, scratches and bruises.
